A loan of $500 helped to purchase clay.

Santos Eliodoro's story

Santos Eliodoro V. M. is 43 years old. He makes clay comales, which are used to cook tortillas or pupusas, a thick corn tortilla, throughout Central America and Mexico. Although nowadays they aren't used so much for cooking, his business is very good. People use them for decoration in their homes, placing them in gardens and kitchens. They are also given as gifts, which allows for them to be sold as handicrafts. Santos has been selling comales for 16 years in Guatajiaga, located in the department of Morazán. He also lives there with his whole family made up of his wife and four children. They help Santos make and sell the comales. This business has been passed down to him through the family, since all of them have made comales and they are experts in producing them. Santos is asking Integral for a loan to buy a greater quantity of clay to make more comales and thus sell more.
