Benedicta's story

Benedicta is an exemplary 58-year-old single mother of two adult children who work in Lima. She lives with her 83-year-old father Norato in her own home. For more than 40 years she has used what she learned from her father and planted native crops on her own fields for later sale in Lima. Since she loves the country life, she also raises goats to sell for more income. Her favorite thing is the peace that abounds in the area where she lives. Seeing her green fields inspires happiness and life inside her. However, it pains her to have to be in the fields all day instead of being able to take care of her father. Therefore, she would like to open a general store in her home to generate income and help with household expenses. She will continue to farm her land, of course, but will hire workers to help her.

This is Benedicta's thirteenth loan from MFP and she is very enthusiastic about continuing to work with her communal bank since she already knows all its procedures. She will use this loan to purchase merchandise to begin to set up the shop in a small space in her home.
