A loan of $525 helped to buy a lot on which to build her house.

Rerika's story

Rerika, 26, is a great woman; she is married to Walter, 29, and they have three beautiful, restless children. They all live together in a rented room within her mother-in-law’s house.

For the past six years she and her husband have farmed peas and potatoes which are the items in highest demand and that sell for the best prices in the city of Tarma’s markets. In her free time she hires herself out to work other farmers’ fields where the daily salary is 20 soles.

What she enjoys most is harvesting potatoes and peas but what is the heaviest work is having to water her plants at night fighting against the cold and even against the rains.

Together with this activity, she also raises calves, pigs, bulls and asses for subsequent sale during festive occasions or to have a reserve in case of some unforeseen economic need.

She owns several hectares of farmland but even so would like to have a spacious piece of property in the city to build her house so that her children can live in comfort.

This is her 6th loan with MFP. She is well aware of the group work methodology in her communal group which she enthusiastically shares.

She will use the funds to add to her savings and buy a lot in the city on which to build her house.
