A loan helped to buy a new motorbike which she will use to transport her farm produce to the nearest market.

Rosemary's story

Rosemary is a 45-year-old widow living in Meru, a place where every Kiva lender would like to be and enjoy the beautiful climate, observing the great Mount Kenya and other staggering hills in the region. She is a vigilant woman who has supported her family through mixed dairy and crop farming for the past fifteen years.

Rosemary is seeking this loan to buy a new motorbike which she will use to transport her farm produce to the nearest market.

Unlike banks and other local money lenders who operate mainly in urban centres, Juhudi Kilimo (a Kiva field partner) has extended its operations to the most remote areas of Kenya, creating opportunities for different people to access loans.

Just like her previous loans, Rosemary is hopeful that Kiva lenders are going to respond positively to her loan request.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
