A loan helped to improve her avocado farm and begin raising chickens.

Ernestina's story

Meet Ernestina!

She is from the indigenous community of Mach Pobor, located in the beautiful Darien forest (East Panama) and inhabited by different native indigenous Embera Wounaan groups.

Like many in the community, she works in the production of plantain and avocado.

Ernestina is requesting this Kiva loan to invest in improvements to her farm and to begin raising chickens, a product which is in very high demand in the community.

Ernestina has been working in agriculture for more than 15 years. She hopes to improve her income this year, as her daughter will be going to university for the first time, and she wants to be able to help with the costs of her education.

Her dream as a mother is to see her daughter graduate from university.

Thank you for supporting Ernestina and being part of the financial inclusion of historically excluded indigenous communities.

This loan is special because:

It helps the people of a historically disadvantaged community access financial services.
