Jenelyn's story

Jenelyn D., from the village of Brgy. Buliwao, Quezon, Neuva Vizcaya, is 34 years old, married and has two school-aged children. To make a living, Jenelyn has sold charcoal and firewood in the local community for over 10 years, earning approximately 7500 PHP a month.

In 2006, Jenelyn joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Having fully repaid a previous loan of 15000 PHP from ASKI that was used to purchase additional products to sell, she is now requesting a new loan, her eighth, of 15000 PHP to purchase new items to expand product offering. Jenelyn plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her enterprise.

About ASKI: ASKI is one of the most successful microfinance institutions in the Philippines. It has 29 branches covering the Central and Northeastern areas. Its clients are mostly farmers, fisherfolk and small entrepreneurs.
