A loan of $875 helped to buy fabric and leather to make purses.

Laura's story

Laura, 19, is a very enterprising young woman. She lives with her parents and two younger brothers. What she wants most is to improve her quality of life. Although very young, she very much wants to get ahead in life and be independent. For this reason, she sells purses and wallets at her school. Every weekend she takes her merchandise to sell to her friends; with time, she has managed to secure quite a few regular customers and this has motivated her to continue working. Now, in partnership with her mother who makes the purses, they go out to sell them. She has managed to stay in this line of work for over a year now; however, her greatest difficulty is not counting on having sufficient budget to make a wide variety of styles. This is why she’d like to enlarge her mother’s workshop and have an assortment of fabrics. This is her first loan with MFP and she pledges to repay in a timely fashion. She will use the requested funds to buy denim and leather to meet her young customers’ needs.
