A loan of $9,500 helps us buy equipment and market our commercial kitchen for community use.

Zachary's story

Growing up I was always enamored by food whether it came from my grandmother's kitchen in Northern California or from a local restaurant in Utah where I was raised. My mother was feeding me bites of sushi and curries before I even knew what they were and at my cousin’s wedding all the adults wanted to see the kid who liked oyster shooters. Through this I developed a love for food, where it comes from and how to prepare and cook it.

I started working in restaurants at age 16 and was helping cater holiday dinners and events throughout high school and college. My passion for food developed after traveling throughout Southeast Asia and accepting a job with a world class chef who taught me how to work with local products to create amazing eating and dining experiences. I’m motivated by growers and producers who can use local produce to create dishes and products that nourish, inspire and engage the community in which they live.
