Pictured here are members of the “Talaneh-Su” group from Makeni, a city in northern Sierra Leone. They have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva, in order to seek a loan of SLL 500,000 for each one in the group. With the help of this loan, they will be able to buy more goods, make more sales, and consequently improve their living conditions.

Thirty-two-year-old Isha M. is the leader of this group. Isha, who was born in Kabala town in northern Sierra Leone, is married to a teacher and they have three children. For five years now, Isha has been a businesswoman; she sells rice. With the help of this loan, Isha will be able to buy more bags of rice to add to her business inventory.
