A loan of $800 helped a member to buy cosmetics.

Tièssiri Group's story

The Tièssiri group consists of four married women from monogamous families. On average, they are 29 years old and have two children. They all live in the Darsalam neighborhood of the urban commune of Ségou (4th Administrative Region of Mali) where they are well-known by virtue of their neighborhood, friendship and marriage connections.

This group trades in several different lines of merchandise and is repaying its third joint loan from Soro Yiriwaso. Its members sell clothing, embroidered cloth, damask, bed linens and beauty products.

Mme Kame M. is the member who is developing a market in cosmetics, buying and selling beauty products, perfumes and incense.

She plans on using her loan to buy ten packages of creams, ten packages of milk in tubes, five packages of perfumes, and several different deodorants.

She buys in Bamako, and occasionally in Ségou. She sells from her home and by going door-to-door.
Mostly her customers are women, but a few are men. She sells for cash and on credit, and hopes for a monthly income of 35,000FCFA to be used to pay back her loan and to help pay family expenses.
