A loan helped to purchase more e-cash and recharge cards to increase her profit margin.

Esther's story

Esther is a 23-year-old woman who lives in the Mfantseman Municipality of Ghana. She has a business of e-cash transactions and the sale of recharge cards. With her previous Kiva loans, she was able to launch and sustain her business. She used the profit to pay her sister’s school fees. She is requesting another loan to purchase more e-cash and recharge cards to increase her profit margin. She plans to use the profit to continue her education. She will repay the ‘social interest’ on her loan by volunteering two and half hours each week as Business Facilitator, focusing on mentoring young women with businesses to help them succeed via internships, apprenticeships, and facilitating networking.

This loan is special because:

It helps borrowers withstand negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
