07-Mbellayiffbokkjom Group's story

This group was created in 2017. It is made up of seven women. They maintain strong ties of solidarity. Their main activity is to transform plastic waste into chairs, bowls and garbage pails.

Arama, on the right side of the photo with her hand raised, is responsible for the group. She is sixty years old, married and the mother of five children including two daughters. She has been working on transforming plastic waste for several years.

She collects plastic waste from local residents at a rate of 75 West African francs per kilo. She transforms these raw materials into bowls, chairs and garbage pails, which she sells at surrounding markets.

With her loan, she hopes to buy a large amount of plastic waste. The profits gains will allow her to help her children go to school but also strengthen her business.
