A loan helped to buy dairy cows to expand her cattle herd and increase sales of organic milk.

Meerim's story

Meerim repaid her loan successfully, and she is grateful to Kiva and to everyone who helped her with financing. Meerim's farm currently has four cows, 20 sheep, and three horses as well as a 0.37-hectare plot of land where she grows organic beans and plums. Meerim has a contract to deliver organic milk to a local factory for further processing into dairy products. This allows her to continually invest in her agricultural business.

Since Meerim knew that she could take out a loan from Bai Tushum Bank on security of her contract for a future delivery (as part of the "Value-added chain" product), she applied for a loan of 100,000 som (KGS) to buy dairy cows to expand her herd and increase sales of organic milk. She plans to invest profits from the loan in the further development of her agricultural business and in the improvement of her family's living conditions.
