A loan of $3,175 helps a member to purchase a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, green peppers and squash.

Medalla Milagrosa Group's story

The Medalla Milagrosa [miraculous medal] communal bank was established by determined neighbors who came together to help each other so they could give their loved ones better living conditions than they had. They mention that the Covid-19 pandemic greatly affected their businesses as well as their income.

They are all enterprising women but among them, Hermelinda, who sells vegetables on the street, deserves mention. She comments that her business was greatly affected by the total quarantine since she could not work under normal conditions and this also affected the income she had to help her family.

Hermelinda is asking for this loan so that she can invest in her business and rebuild it. She wants to purchase a variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, green peppers and squash. Hermelinda is grateful for the opportunity to invest again in her business. It will be very helpful to her.

Please note: Only one person appears in the photo but this is a group loan. It was not possible to take a group photo because of the need to avoid crowds of people due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
