A loan of $5,050 helps a member to buy 30 lengths of pagne [bright, colorful fabric].

Heshima Group's story

Eliza is a client with the micro-finance institution Hekima and the president of the village group called "Heshima." She is married, 44 years old, and a mother of eight children. Five of the children are in school, while three are young. Her husband is a carpenter.

Eliza sells pagnes [bright, colorful fabric]. She started this business four years ago with start-up funds she received from her husband. Later she joined Hekima to support her business, which is continuing to develop. With this new loan, she is going to buy 30 lengths of pagnes, which will strengthen her initial capital. A challenge to her business relates to police harrassment and theft.

Eliza would like to see her children continue in school and also buy a piece of land. Finally, she wishes to thank Hekima and their partners for their support to business owners who lack access to banking servies in the context of this global COVID-19 crisis.

[As a note] the photo only includes the group leader because of COVID-19.
