A loan helped to provide maintenance to 1.05 hectares of coffee.

Yelba Del Carmen's story

Yelba works on a small coffee farm with the help of her husband. It is located in the north-central region of Nicaragua, in the city of Jalapa. Her farm has certification from FLO and C.A.F.E. Practices, which signifies that she is committed to protecting the environment.

Yelba has designed a plan of nutritional improvement for her 1.05 hectares of coffee. This will translate into improved financial earnings and a better life for her and her family.

In the photo Yelba is picture in her storeroom of agricultural supplies. This is the seventh loan she has sought from PAC.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Laurie Hiller.

This loan is special because:

It allows farmers to plant trees needed to shade coffee plants.
