Virgen Del Rosario Del Cusco Group's story

Felicia tells us, “We have 13 members (12 women and 1 man) in our communal bank, Virgen del Rosario del Cusco. Our meetings are every 30 days in the central office of the Asociació Arariwa headquarters in Cusco. They elected me to represent the communal bank in order to tell about my main economic activity.”

Felicia, age 47, is a widow with two children. Her main economic activity is selling food at the final stop of the Columbia express train. It is on Los Incas Street in the city of Cusco. She has been selling breakfast as a street vendor for 26 years. She gets up at four in the morning to prepare the breakfast, and she leave to sell from seven to ten in the morning.

Her supplemental economic activity is selling beauty products. She needs the loan to buy more women’s beauty products like earrings, perfume, cologne, necklaces, and lipstick, etc.

Most of the members are merchants. For example some of them sell food, kebabs, weavings and embroidery, groceries, and jewelry. Other members offer services such as taxi drivers or work as employees.

Cusco is a city characterized by its archeological centers, its historical center, its scenery, and its history. It is an
enchanting city in the southern region of the country.
