A loan of $325 helped purchasing a freezer.

Fatoumata Yeya's story

Mrs. Fatoumata Yeya Traoré is 32 years old, married and the mother of four children. She lives with her husband and children as a nuclear family in the Hamdallaye district of Ségou (the fourth administrative region of Mali).

She is educated as a traditional birth attendant, and started her business activity with her mother who used to sell condiments. After several years of learning this business from an early age (parallel to her studies and her regular work), she has amassed solid experience. This is when she decided to launch a solo business selling clothing, shoes and food-grade ice, which she has been doing for two years. Her business is popular and she has a large customer base. Her strength is a large stock of ice.

In order to better satisfy customer demand and increase net profits, she has turned to Soro Yiriwaso. This would be her first individual loan which she plans to use for purchasing a freezer for her home in Ségou. Mrs. Fatoumata Yeya Traoré sells for cash and on credit to a customer based composed mainly of men who are bakers.

She plans to achieve a monthly income of 40,000 West African Francs, which will allow her to take care of some of her needs (clothing, toiletries and medications). Her goal is to be able to build a house to live in.
