Ana María's story

Ana María lives in the city of Cuenca, a city known for its very beautiful streets, churches, rivers, food, handicrafts writers, and other attractions. She has been a member of the communal bank " El Crédito" for 8 years, thanks to the invitation of her sister-in-law. With the loans she has received, she has covered some necessary household expenditures and invested in her business selling games at the entrance of schools. She has been doing this work for 17 years. With this new loan she will buy toy cars, balls, marbles, yo-yos, cup-and-ball games, and other toys. In addition, she will buy pencils and erasers to have an inventory to offer the children.

Ana María is 45 years old, married, and is the mother of three children who are now 27, 23 and 17 years old. The eldest is single, but lives independently. Her second son studies at the university in the city, and her youngest does not like to study and so he works. Her husband works as a school bus driver. They live in a canton of the city of Cuenca where they live in a rented home.
