A loan of $350 helps to buy farming inputs which she will use to expand her production and make more income to support her family.

Margaret's story

Margaret is a 44-year-old mother of seven children living in Kapcherop, a town whose surroundings have vast agricultural potential with numerous small farms and also vast agricultural enterprises. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who has farmed for the past seven years, enabling her to be able to support her family.

The major impediment to the development of small hold farms in Kenya is the lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support small holder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Margaret is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to expand her production and make more income to support her family. She is hopeful that Kiva lenders are going to respond positively to her loan request.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
