A loan of $875 helped to buy fertilizer, to hire two bulls to plough the earth.

Karina's story

Karina is 22 years old, she lives in her own home with her 30 year old husband Oswaldo who is a public transport driver. They have a young 5 year old daughter. Each day is a constant struggle since she farms, together with her husband, who helps her in his free time. They grow peas, gladiolus flowers, lettuces, carrots. Gladiolus seeds are the most profitable, since each sack earns a high price on the national market. At the end of the harvest, the products are taken to the wholesalers in the city, and she receives a good financial profit in exchange, allowing her to live comfortably with her family. For her, field work requires a lot of effort, given that every day she has to watch over the crops to avoid pests attacking her seeds, in addition to protecting them from climate changes. As she is a very enterprising woman, she has the future goal of increasing her production, but aboveall to increase the galdiolus seeds, which are quite profitable. This is her first loan with MFP, and she expresses her gratitude to everyone who makes this loan possible allowing her to continue producing. She feels satisfied with the work of her communal group because it is a very solid group who work with a lot of affinity. Karina has plans to invest the loan in purchasing fertilizer and hiring two bulls to be able to plough the earth so that her next harvest is successful.
