A loan helped a member purchase of clothing.

Benkadi (L’entente) Group's story

The members of the Benkadi group are three married ladies and a widow, who live in large polygamous families in the Koulikoro district of the town of Koutiala. They average 34 years of age and have an average of four children each.

They met through good neighbors and have clothes, drinks and restauration businesses.

In order to expand their businesses, the members of the Benkadi group have joined Soro Yiriwaso's loan program and are taking out their fourth group loan from the institution.

Mrs. Assétou K. would like to use her loan to buy clothes. She gets her supplies in Bobo Dioulaso in Burkina Faso. She resells her clothes on a door to door basis and from home, for cash, on a retail basis, and on credit to a customer base made up of men and women.

Assétou hopes to make a monthly profit of 120,000FCFA which will be used to repay her loan, cover family expenses, participate in social events (marriages, baptisms and funerals) and to expand her business. Her ambition is to diversify the products she sells.
