Kawral Sare Karfa Group's story

The womqn in the photo holding the goat is called Maoundé. She is the president of the "KAWRAL SARE KARFA" group which means "The Harmony of SARE KARFA." This loan is being awarded to this group of 12 women who all earn their living raising animals.

Maoundé the president is 51 years old. She has a lot of experience in the business having done it for 20 years. She is a widow and the mother of four children, aged between 8 and 16 years old. They all go to school. She wants to expand her business raising animals and have a large farm in her village. Then she can take care of her family's needs as she is their only source of income. She buys and sells the animals in the weekly markets in her community.

Maoundé had no schooling but she wants her children to attend the best schools in the country. With the earnings from her business she manages to take care of her family as best she can. Some of the problems she faces is the theft of animals and lack of access to financing.
