A loan of $1,225 helps to buy mulberry for her tapa making business.

Faka'anaua's story

Faka'anaua is 28 years old. Her husband is a farmer, and they have five children. Currently she is running a business of tapa making, and she is a member of a tapa making group of women in their village. She runs her business in order to help her husband in providing for their family. Faka'anaua sells her tapas overseas. She sends them to her mother and her mother advertises them to random people overseas.

Since the lock-down and the closing of the border, Faka'anaua sells her tapas locally. She is applying for a loan to buy mulberry for her tapa making business.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
