Mariela De La Cruz's story

Mariela is an entrepreneurial 50-year-old woman who lives in the city of Barranquilla, where she has run a store and a restaurant for approximately four years. Mariela de la Cruz began this work due to a lack of work opportunities and the desire to provide for her family and help her husband with their household expenses. Mariela offers her services daily to customers in the neighboring sector, her neighbors, friends and others. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the profits and sales from her business declined sharply. Because of this, she
had to close her store at earlier hours for health and safety reasons and the restaurant was not able to open.

Currently, she is arranging her first Kiva loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo in order to be able to increase her business' working capital in order to buy ingredients such as grains, rice and other items to stock her business and to be able to sell food deliveries to increase her business' sales and profits.
