A loan of $1,500 helps to buy tables, chairs, sweets, beef, rice and oil.

Alexia Del Carmen's story

Alexia is a shopkeeper. She is 53 years old and a single mother with five children, four of whom live under her care. She sells fritangas [fried foods], biscuits, bread, sponch [coconut and marshmallow biscuits], pancakes and sweets. In her essential business she relies on five years of experience. During this time she has received the unconditional support of her children.

Alexia has previous experience with loans from KIVA in conjunction with MiCrèdito. With previous support she was able to buy plastic tables and chairs to improve the space where her customers are served. She is very happy to have improved the look of her business, so has returned to KIVA and MiCrèdito to ask for a loan to buy tables, chairs, sweets, beef, rice and oil. In the near future, Alexia plans to be the owner of a successful cafe.
