A loan helped to buy equipment for her farm and more grains such as as maize and beans to sell and increase her family's income.

Lurdes's story

Lurdes is a 26-year-old Mozambican woman. She lives in Chimoio with her husband and their three children.

Lurdes entered into agribusiness while she was young. Together with her husband, Lurdes installed an improvised place to serve as a store of grains such as beans and maize.

Lurdes has a huge circle of grain suppliers from whom she buys the grains to sell to a fix market. Thanks to this activity, Lurdes is able to support her family and educate her children.

To satisfy the demand and keep her portfolio of clients active, Lurdes needs to buy some equipment to her farm as well as more grains. This is why she is requesting a Kiva loan.

In the future, Lurdes plans to improve her business creating a logo of her products.

This loan is special because:

It gives smallholder farmers access to productive equipment and new markets.
