Fatoumata's story

Ms. Fatoumata C., age 53, is the mother of eight children and lives in a nuclear family with her husband and children in Fana Coura, a district in Fana City, Region of Koulikoro, Republic of Mali. With over ten years of experience in her business selling grains, she was recently introduced to the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, which has an important place in her work these days. She is on her fourth individual loan, and all the previous ones have been repaid.

For the new loan, Fatoumata intends to buy three tonnes of grain from suppliers from the Fana area. She makes her sales locally in her store. Her customer base is composed of women and men. She hopes to obtain 120,000 francs CFA in profit over the course of her cycle. The profits will be used to cover family expenses, as well as those associated with her business.
