A loan of $1,000 helps to buy compost, minerals, leaf fertilizers, and soil amendments.

Pablo Adolfo's story

Over the course of 20 years, Pablo has had as his source of income his crops of pineapple and dragon fruit. He learned this work from his ancestors, and he inherited land from them that is good for these crops. He enjoys every second that he spends in the fields, preparing the land for planting. In this fundamental and valuable work, he has the unconditional support of his children and his wife. He is a farmer with many goals in life, for which he will fight until he achieves each one of them.

Age 64, and trusting very much in obtaining a loan, Pablo has "knocked on the doors" of Kiva and MiCrèdito to buy minerals, leaf fertilizers, compost, and soil amendments, in order to apply them to a hectare of dragon fruit to produce a good crop. In the near future, Pablo plans to obtain additional land and expand his area of cultivation.
