A loan of $725 helped pay the workers who help harvest his coffee crop.

Juan's story

Juan is married to Esther, age 49, and lives with one of his six children. At 62 years of age, he says has succeeded with most of the objectives he has set out to accomplish.

His enterprising spirit allows him to overcome adversity each day because he is not easily intimidated by pests or inclement weather since he has been dealing with these factors for 40 years. Juan grows coffee, bananas, avocados, and pineapples with the help of his son and his wife. During the harvest season, Juan’s wife sets aside her daily household chores so that she can be by his side. Juan enjoys harvesting because he is able to see the fruits of his labor and generate the necessary income to maintain his household. Since his business is profitable, he wants to renew his coffee crops since they take approximately three years to mature.

This is his fifth loan with MFP. Juan enjoys being part of his Communal Bank because is a direct person who strives to bring his fellow group members together. With his loan of 2000 PEN that he requested, Juan will pay the workers who have been hired to help harvest coffee.
