A loan helped to buy farming inputs to increase production and make more profit to support her family.

Joan's story

Joan is a 26-year-old mother of one child, living in Chuka, a land of seemingly never-ending beauty. She is a determined woman who has always hoped to see her children move ahead thanks to her farming profits. She has farmed for the past seven years, which has enabled her to send her child to school.

Joan is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs that she will use to increase her production and make more profit to support her family. She is hopeful that Kiva lenders will respond positively to her loan request. Supporting her with a loan will be key for her to be able to face the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
