A loan helped to buy piggies and feed for raising them to increase her income.

Voraluk's story

Voraluk lives with her father, brother, sister, and daughter in a Khmer community of Surin province. Basically, her family cultivates a jasmine rice farm as their primary occupation. However, the income from the occupation is not sufficient for her family's expenses.

Therefore, Voraluk has raised piggies for selling as well. She learned that from her grandparents when she was young. During this period, to continue the business, she applied for a Kiva loan to buy more piggies and feed for raising them. The loan would be helpful for her to run the business smoothly as well as increase the income from selling the piggies.

In the future, she plans to sell pig manure and feed in the community as well.

This loan is special because:

It helps women living in rural areas improve financial literacy and invest in their businesses.
