Piedras Preciosas Group's story

Petrona, 63, is married and the mother of five children who are all independent farmers. She has been growing her typical foods business making steamed nacatamales and baked corn products using an artisan oven. She is a good cook and accepted by the customers in the rural area where she lives. She is very grateful for the previous Kiva loan because she was able to purchase what she needed for the business, increasing stock and, therefore, sales.

She is applying for a Kiva loan through Fundenuse to buy raw materials to make her products, increase her inventory of small animals and continue working toward a larger, more stable business. She also wants to improve the conditions of the family home.

She belongs to the Piedras Preciosas Group together with Maria and Carolina.
