A loan helped plan the redesign of our multilingual childcare model for pandemic sustainability.

Gail's story

I love looking ahead, seeing what's over the horizon, then designing and implementing solutions to emerging social challenges. For a decade now, I've been obsessed with this question: What does it really take to create a global citizen? One key thing is multilingualism. I've done my research: The revolutions in neuroscience are clear: Toddlers are geniuses at learning languages. Parents have a five-year window-of-opportunity to act on this science and raise a multilingual child. Morningside PlayCare is the nursery school I founded to make this possible.

My first social enterprise was a non-profit dedicated to redirecting the lives of young boys in crisis in school, helping families find alternatives to failing schools in their communities, and supporting community-based educational enterprises. For my service I received an invitation to the White House, gubernatorial citation, and numerous civic awards.

Then after 12 years of operating, I happily seeded other corporations to continue the work, closed Toussaint, and took time off to raise my child, who now helps me with the business.

I love travel, theatre, family and helping others realize their visions. I received my doctorate in Educational Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University.
