Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Veneranda's story

Veneranda is 46 years old and shares her life with Edmundo and her children Emily and Eder, age 22 and 20 respectively. They live together in their own home. Some years ago, Veneranda began selling “salchipapas,” a popular plate made of sausage and fried potatoes. Parallel to this, she has started a new business, selling musical CDs, and expects a bit more income, to add to her earnings from selling meals.

Now she has purchased and customized 2 wooden stands to display musical and film CDs, so they can be better appreciated and generate enthusiasm, assuring that the business will go well. In addition, she can count on the help of her children in sales. In the future, she wants to install a larger store to sell food, and to install a market that will offer varied products, plus the CDs that she also sells.

This is her 4th loan with MFP and she hopes to be as punctual and she was in repaying her previous loans. With the requested loan, she wants to buy CDs, plus products and ingredients for preparing “salchipapas.”
