Las Rosas De Mazateupa Group's story

The group “Las Rosas de Mazateupa” (The Roses of Mazateupa) is made up of six members, all women. The representative, Mrs. Miguelina, sells plastic goods through catalogues. Mrs. Anita sells chicken, live or prepared by Mrs. Anabel. Mrs. Marina sells “pozol” which is a traditional drink in the Tabasco region made from corn and cocoa. Mrs. Andrea sells various brands of shoes by catalogue and Mrs. Viviana sells traditional snacks.

Mrs. Miguelina will buy more catalogues of plastic goods in addition to the orders that she currently has. She has faith that by working hard she will succeed in her goal which is to enlarge her house and have her children finish university. She would like to have a greater income and sell to more communities.

This group is very positive and does a variety of activities which has resulted in the group feeling more like a family. They believe that in this way they can better support one another and accomplish many things together.

They are very grateful to the Fundación and to KIVA for believing in the “choca” people, a term by which they are known in Tabasco.

In this group: Miguelina, María De Los Remedios, Ma. Anita, Marina, Viviana, Anabel
