Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Essi's story

Since 2003, this woman started her own restaurant where she sells only Togolese cuisine. In order to manage her business well, she hired four people from her family as management for her business. Her clients are made up of all kinds of people. She would like to save up her money in order to restock with the necessary supplies for her restaurant.
She is asking for a loan from WAGES to purchase six sacks of rice, four barrels of oil, ten cartons of spaghetti, and five bags of maize. She is divorced from her husband and takes care of three people. With the revenue from her business, she supports herself and her children.
