A loan of $750 helped purchase and sale of zinc screens, cement, stone and others.

Nicolau Azarias's story

Nicolau Azarias was born in the Chibuto District, in the Gaza Province, in South Mozambique. He is 47 years old, married and the father of 5 children who are 18, 15, 9 and 5 years old and the youngest is 2 months old. The oldest three children go to school. He only went to school until the 8th grade and didn't because he was drafted for mandatory military service. He lives with his family in his own house and doesn't support anyone else.

He left Chibuto to go to Boane looking for a better life. He has had his own business for more than 5 years and has 3 employees who help him. He has an income of around 7.000.00mt per month, which goes towards household expenses and he still manages to save some money in his savings account.

He has never requested loans with other banks. He came to know Hluvuku through friends who were already partners of the institution. This loan, in the amount of 25.000.00mt, is his first and he intends to buy building materials for resale (zinc screens, cement, stone and others) in order to increase his inventory.

He is committed to paying this loan on time in order to be able to request other loans. In the future, he would like to request more loans to develop his business.
