A loan helped to buy a seeds kit (comprising certified seeds, urea, fertilisers, weed-killers, and anti-pest treatments) and pay labourers.

Silvia Moncerrate's story

In a place called Junco, in the city of Bahía de Caráquez, the locals work in farming, growing corn and, for the majority of inhabitants, raising poultry.

Silvia Moncerrate is 33 years old. She has a partner, and two children, ages 15 and 8 years old. The attend high school and primary school, respectively. Silvia's partner is a farmer.

Silvia is also a farmer with her partner. They work on land that they rent. Every day, they work from very early; they grow corn and passion fruit. They usually have two labourers who help, and whom theya pay weekly.

The couple sells the yield at the place where they grow it; there various traders come to buy. They also sometimes take their goods to market to sell.

Silvia will use this loan to buy a seeds kit (comprising certified seeds, urea, fertilisers, weed-killers, and anti-pest treatments) and pay labourers.
