A loan of $1,200 helped for building materials and supplies.

Auxiliadora's story

Auxiliadora López, 61, lives with her husband and two children in a community called Santa Fe in Los Chiles, Alajuela province. This community is known for being a mountainous zone and for being very near the country’s northern border. Its main commercial activities are cattle raising and agriculture, specifically basic grains, sugar cane and oranges.

Auxiliadora set up a small grocery store several years ago in her home. This activity has made it possible for her to have a profitable commercial activity that helps her improve her quality of life.

She currently needs a 605.000 colones loan to buy building materials and supplies to enlarge her store so that she can offer better customer service. She comments that the service she provides is very important and she has many regular customers so she needs more space.

Auxiliadora is a member of Empresa de Crédito Comunal Manantial de Santa Fe (Santa Fe Spring communal bank), one of EDESA’s 100 member organizations in Costa Rica. This will be her first loan and she hopes to improve her personal and economic status with it as well as to make her business into a micro business.
