A loan of $500 helped to buy construction material (cement, iron rods, etc.) and pay for labor.

Pedro Alberto's story

Pedro Alberto M. was born in the city of Maputo, Maputo province, in southern Mozambique. He is 47 years old, married, and the father of 3 children who are 15, 8, and 6 years old. All go to school. He only finished 12 grade and did not continue due to a lack of financial means. He lives in his own house with his family and supports one nephew who lives with them.

He has never left Maputo province; Pedro Alberto currently resides in the Machava sector. He works as an instructor and has been on the staff of the Ministry of Education for more than 29 years. He does not have any employees and earns a salary of 5,999 MZN each month, which he uses to pay for household expenses. He even manages to save about 800 MZN in his bank account.

Pedro Alberto has had loans with the Tchuma credit cooperative, but did not continue with them later on. He found out about Hluvuku through co-workers who are also clients of this institution. This is his 1st loan [with Hluvuku], which has a value of 17,000 MZN. He plans to use it to buy construction material (cement, iron rods, etc.) and to pay for labor in order to finish building his home.

He promises to pay off the loan on time so he will be able to have access to others. In the future, he intends to request more loans to build a protection wall and bathrooms.
