A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers that she will use to improve her horticulture farm.

Rose's story

Hello, Kiva community! Meet Rose, a 66-year-old mom of 3. She is a hardworking, determined woman and a great achiever. She is a rural smallholder farmer from the Meru area of Kenya. Her family's main revenue source is milk from their dairy farm and horticulture farming. However, Rose also participates in some side businesses to complement her meager income.

The biggest problem that farmers from Rose's village face is the huge discrepancy in their access to agricultural inputs, resulting in the fact that their output and earnings are below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers like Rose can take out loans and purchase farm inputs.

Rose is humbly seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers that she will use to improve her horticulture farm. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. Her competitive advantage in the market will be evident after she receives this loan. Through this intervention, she will be able to afford food for her loving family.

Rose thanks Kiva lenders for their kindness.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
