A loan helped to invest in a purchase of raw materials in bulk, such as batik fabric.

Yuni's story

Yuni is an artisan from Indonesia who specializes in silk batik shawls and scarves. She would like to invest in a purchase of raw materials in bulk, such as batik fabric.

Yuni has been selling through NOVICA since 2006. This is her story:

Yuni learned the art of batik when she was very young from her mother. She has been making batik at home in Java for over 23 years, while waiting each day for her father to come home from the sea. “We still design together, especially the floral and bird motifs that are typical in Pekalongan batik. My husband Rieckey also helps me a lot, but as a local Balinese woman, I'm very proud of the fact that I can have the career that I love, and to be able to provide for myself and my family.

I want to thank you for your assistance in the form of this microcredit. With this support, I can buy batik fabric materials to replenish my stock. Hopefully my effort and business in creating batik crafts will be better."
