A loan of $425 helps to start her own kava business.

Latileta's story

Kava is a popular social drink enjoyed by Pacific Islanders after a hard day’s work. But it is often in short supply in small communities.

Latileta, age 48, has identified a niche in her area and has asked for a loan to start her own kava powder supply venture. She has her own kava farm and is ready to harvest and begin supplying to her people. Not only will the income provide a better education for Latileta's children, but it will also keep money in the local community, providing a better standard of living for the whole village.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
