A loan helped to build a household latrine and buy its necessaries.

Khem's story

Khem is a 41-year-old farmer from Pursat province. He owns and manages one hectare of farmland for rice cultivation. Farming is the sole source of his household income. To ensure that he has good rice production, he works hard at the rice field for at least 8 hours a day during the rainy season, and is involved in other activities in the dry season. He earns a normal income of KHR 10,000 per day to cover his daily living needs.

Since he doesn't have a safe latrine for use at home, he is unable to help his family members improve their sanitation and personal hygiene. This is why he has requested a loan of KHR 8,000,000 to build a household latrine and buy its necessaries. Thanks to the water loan program offered by HKL with a special interest rate, he is encouraged to focus on healthy living conditions, safeguard the health of his family, and protect the environment.

This loan is special because:

It provides access to clean, renewable energy sources, like solar and biogas.
