A loan of $1,200 helped construction of trout hatchery.

Cecilia's story

Cecilia F., 55, lives with her 83-year-old mother in a Costa Rican community called Buena Vista de Rivas de Pérez Zeledón. This community is located in the Valle del General, where the principle economic activities are cattle, agriculture, tourism, and commerce. Tourism has grown greatly, bringing new opportunities for work.

Due to the growth of rural tourism in the area, Cecilia has decided to take advantage of a beautiful waterfall on her farm and create a tourist complex near it. She is sure the project will be a success as the waterfall is a tourist attraction. To begin the project, she will need a loan of 666,000 colons for the construction of tanks to raise trout. With this, she will use the natural resources of her land in a healthy and intelligent way.

Cecilia is a member of the VISTABAN communal bank, one of the 100 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. This will be her first loan, but she is certain that, thanks to this type of organization that facilitates credit, her project will be a success.
