A loan of $350 helped cocoa plantation maintenance.

Fortunata's story

Fortunata is 35 years old, married and has three children. She lives in her own home, which is located in the Pampahuasi neighborhood in the jungle of the Ayacucho region.

She started her business when she saw an opportunity in her community, there were only a few farmers dedicated to growing cocoa, and it has paid off financially. She believes that the key factor is to provide an added value to her products, so she sells her products at a lower price than the competition.

She usually wakes up before the rooster sings so that she can be ready for anything. She believes in taking preventive action to avoid any problems with her land since it is her main source of income. Her family helps her with the sowing and harvesting of the products. They then sell them at their community’s collection centers. In the future, she wants to buy more land to have larger production and meet the demand from her clients.

This is her first loan with MFP and she promises to make the payments agreed upon. She is confident that she will accomplish a lot with the support of the communal group. She will use this loan to provide the necessary maintenance for her cocoa plantations, aiming to produce a high quality product.
