A loan helped a member to hire labour for ploughing.

Konyerekenifarmersgroup's story

Betty is 45 years old and married with four children who all attend school in Lira, Uganda. Together with her husband, they grow beans, maize and soya for both domestic and income generation use.

She is requesting a loan from VisionFund Uganda to hire labour for ploughing.

To be able to generate a reasonable and sustainable income, Betty has to plant on a large scale of land, which her and her family can't manage to plough.

It's because of this that they hire labour to help out so they can finish in time and plant before the season expires.

On harvest, the yields are then transported to the markets for sale, and with the income, Betty is then able to pay school fees and provide personal needs to her family.

Betty is grateful to the Kiva community for the financial support.
