A loan helped to buy agricultural inputs.

Héctor Mesías's story

Héctor is 64 years old and lives in the Cachacho area, in Lita parish which belongs to Imbabura province. He currently lives alone in a small wood house. He earns a living in agriculture, specifically growing oranges. Héctor has an orange orchard. It is his main economic activity and it generates enough monthly income to cover his personal expenses.

Héctor is very hard-working and dedicated although the income he generates from selling the oranges does not cover all his needs he is happy to be a farmer. In spite of living alone Héctor has been dependent on his children. They now have their own families and are independent.

Héctor is requesting a loan to provide maintenance for his orange crops and he needs to invest more than his budget to undertake this. Héctor is grateful to Kiva for the support he has received in his work as he has been able to support his family and reach his goals.
