A loan of $1,000 helped to buy seeds to sow potatoes.

Martin's story

Sr. Martin was born January 3, 1955 and is a native of Cochabamba (Bolivia). He is married to Alberta, and they have two school-aged children. He works in agriculture in the town of 1st of May, 30 kilometers from Torno. He has had his plot of land in this community for 11 years. He also has livestock and his wife is in charge of raising the animals. For agriculture, he sows pumpkin, corn, rice and peanuts. He markets all of his products in the Torno market.

He is a very hard-working person, that has a lot of desire to get ahead. He works with his wife and their small children who also help to water the crops. With the money from the loan, he will buy seeds for the sowing of potatoes. This is a new product that he is inspired to sow, since it is the sowing period. He is very grateful for Emprender and Kiva for the confidence offered in the granting of the loan.
